I hope you enjoy your visit. I plan to
launch this website in full over the summer. If you are here
early please feel free to have a pre-launch viewing at no charge, but
there will be no popcorn served - so don't get your hopes up.
As one friend who found my site observed, it is
"high on flashiness and low on informative content". I
apologize. This has to take a back seat to the rest of my
life, which is quite busy right now. The following paragraphs
are my lame attempt at updating those who wonder what I'm up to now.
I am living in Columbus, OH right now getting my Ph.D. in Computational
Linguistics from Ohio State. I am in my fifth year of the program.
I've decided on my dissertation topic. I'll be making an English-language spell checker
for people whose native language is Japanese.
I am in my second term as social chair of the Student Linguistics
Association at OSU. I just finished a year as president and am
enjoying the lack of responsibilities that come with not holding that
office. I am the scoutmaster for Boy Scouts of America Troop 793 based
out of Canal Winchester, OH. I will have my first Eagle scouts in 2009 and it is very rewarding. I run a very successful translation company which
allows me to be in school and lets my wife stay home with the kids and not
have to work. since the economy turned south it's not doing as well,
so I'm in the proces of starting a consulting business. My most proud accomplishment, however, is being a dad to
2 wonderful sons.
Daniel and Carter are both growing fast. I can't seem to keep up with
them. Daniel starts school this fall. Soccer season starts soon,
too. I'm coaching his team again this year. He'll be playing basketball this
winter and then soccer again in the spring. Carter turns 2 very soon (November 3) and is
extremely smart. I'm going to have my hands full with these two kids
who are smarter than I am.
In short, I am much more blessed than I deserve and thank my Heavenly Father
for my blessings every day. Where much is given, much is required.
So I'm gonna get back to all that stuff that's required of me and you can
enjoy the lack of "informative content" on this lame website. :-)
